Ive gone and bought a HD1 with a 4GB sd card!

Ive just gone and purchased a brand spanking new HD1 on Ebay!

It worked out under £400 for the item delivered and with a 1GB Sd card. I tried to get it without the SD card bit it seemed better value to get it with.

I have also found a cheap 4GB SD card on ebay@-

A 4GB SD card delivered for under £60 - now that is great value my old 512mb cost over £100 when I originally bought it!

Can't wait to get my new kit!

Nice one, be interesting to see what you think of it when you get it. Cheapest I've found advertising in UK is £468, still a bit too much for my pocket... . Will you still get import duty on that do you think?

That is quite a good price for getting the HD1 from the UK - where did you see it for that price and what was included?ie memory card, postage, insurance etc?

The gamble with buying from abroad is import tax but for all the years of buying foriegn goods I have never had to pay so far! Maybe this will be my turn to pay!

I was so knackered last night I went straight to bed without having a play with it! Got up bright and earlier this morning to have charge it up.

Whilst it's charging in the meantime here are some more details:-

The overall size is a big chunkier and will just about still fit in your pocket! That was one of the main selling points of the previous models was the size! But here you've got specification vs size and I think they got the payoff just right!

The battery size has increased in dimension and is bigger with a rating of 1200mAh compared to the old 720mAh. Hopefully this will result in slightly longer operation time? Probably not if the camera is doing more work as it's handling larger files and doing much more?

Seems like they have the various video output formats covered!

On previous models there was a slot on the power point to place a battery and charge it whilst you are charging another one in the camera - this option has been removed from this model and they can only be charged in the camera itself!

It seems that the two Ulead products are MPEG4 and High Definition compatible so are being installed as I type!

Don't bother with them - they re-encode the image causing quality loss.

Vegas 6.0d is good because you can just open the HD1's files and do everything... use HDV project settings and look into HDV intermediate option to speed things up. I know the HD1 ain't HDV!

Also the new MP4CAM2AVI handles HD1 files - changes them to AVI without reencoding, just repackaging, i.e. no quality loss.
