Just noticed that JVC have a new camcorder out - the JVC MG20. More details HERE"JVC today announced a new series of camcorders that eliminates the need to carry tapes, discs or any media at all, yet can record up to seven hours of DVD movie-quality video. They also record more than 10.5 hours at a quality level comparable to a DVD camcorder’s 30-minute mode. The new JVC Everio G Series camcorders record to a built-in hard disk drive and will be available in 20 and 30 gigabyte (GB) versions, offering nprecedented camcorder storage capacity." It has a 25 x optical zoom and mechanical stabilization! Cheapest price on the net I can find is £474 inc vat and delivery and some are now going even cheaper on Ebay. Has anyone had any experience or knowledge of this camera and its capabilities? Lee www.xacti.co.uk

Lee, don't do it, don't turn to the dark side, Xacti is the one! Think of all those HDD failures (ipod anyone?) the day after the warranty expires......... Mike

I agree with manmikey. Xacti is the way forward for the future. Having looked at the JVC ones I have to say that not only are they horrible looking, they look like a large family of rabbits could happily use the outer casing as a home. They look huge!!!
Xacti = handheld JVC = crane lift
Don't do it!!!

Nice camera - but hugely expensive and all you are getting is 'extra' is 10 x optical zoom, superior image stabilisation and a 2gb card. I think i'll stick with my Xacti for a while longer! Lee www.xacti.co.uk

True the price is a killer!!!
But you should also get better low light performance (3CCD plus larger lens diameter) and generally better video quality (MPEG2 compression). But I think still quality will not be as good as the Xacti C5 (3.1MP vs 5MP).
Like I you I will also stick with my Xacti for a little while longer since in my opinion it still represents the best compromise between: still/video quality, size/portability and price.
BTW great forum!!!
