I have an Xacti C1. Windows XP PC. The camera's user manual says that if Ulead Photo Explorer or Ulead SVideo Studio are installed, MPEG 4 files created on the camera can be played in WMP. My WMP can't see these MPEG4 files. Should be grateful if anyone has a suggestion please. Thanks. Tony

It'a all to do with codecs and I don't think anyone on here has beleived the manual that came with the camera! We have all found that you must associate the files with Apple's Quicktime Player - as this was created alongside the mp4 video standard (i think) WMP should be able to play the files with the correct codec but not as efficiently as Quicktime can. HEad over to apples website and download a free copy of Quicktime and remember to associate .MP4 files with that application and then whenever you click an MP4 file they should automatically play for you! Thanks. Have been doing some experimenting. Upshot is that I can browse to Xacti-created MPEG4 files in Explorer (but not directly from WMP10), then right click on the files Open with, select WMP. The first time you do this, WMP issues dire warnings but, if you click OK, it will play Xacti MPEG4 files. You have to use this work-around every time to play these files in WMP (though you only get Windows' dire warning the first time), but it's worth it as, in my case at least, the files play perfectly smoothly in WMP whereas they stutter and drop frames all over the place in QT6. The only remaining issue is why it's not possible to browse to these files from WMP's own interface and, if anyone has a solution or explanation, I'd be mightily interested. Anyway, the work-around is only a minor inconvenience. Please, could I raise a related issue as I've only just bought the Exacti and am not sure if one of the settings is not right or if there is something wrong with the camera: the video of MPEG4 files created by the camera looks perfect in WMP, QT and the 2 Ulead softwares but, in all cases, the audio is very 'hissy' -intrusively so. Is this normal ? Thanks for any further help. Tony

Sanyo's sound has too many high frequences - for my ears it's too 'hard' - it becomes better after lowpass filtering. I pass sanyo's mp4's to divx avi with my app mp4cam2avi - it also has lowpass filter as a additional feature, so sound becomes a little softer.

I can browse mp4 files from wmp10, ie xp sp2 wmp 10. So not sure what your problem is, load all ulead packages and maybe try loading divx , I have realplayer and quicktime also loaded as well, then open with wmp.

Thanks Elio. Care to have a look in your WMP10 Tools/Options/Options/File types? Under Movie File/ MPEG, mine does not list .MP4 -does yours? This, despite the fact that in Windows Explorer Tools/Folder Options/File Types, MP4s are associated with WMP10. Result is that, I can double click on MP4 files created by the Sanyo anywhere in Explorer or Video folders and they open up fine and play perfectly in WMP10, but I cannot start in WMP10 and browse to the same files. It's a mystery but no great inconvenience. If anyone knows how to add .mp4 file types to the drop down list in WMP10, it would solve this little problem. Tony
