I'm delighted with the full HD quality of my Xacti 1010 when played back from the camera to a HD screen. Also when I import the files into AVID to edit I seem to be able to keep most of the quality. But how to play back the edited result?
My MacBook Pro can't play the full resolution without stuttering. So I want to copy them to a hard disc connected to the Xacti Library and use the camera to play back. But I can't find a file format that the camera will accept. I've tried several versions of MP4 and even renamed the files SANYxxxx, but no joy. Any suggestions please on the exact file format the camera will accept?

Hi petersan, I use the HD 1000. I've also tried to find the right codec - I can convert most formats to most others - but so far without success. Even doing some in depth analysis and trying to 'mirror' the native Sanyo file format doesn't get a result. I had a long telecon with sanyo technical support but the best guy is away till next week. I suspect it may be a difficult one. I can copy an unmodified file from camera to PC to USB drive etc with no problem but as soon as I modify it and write it back to the card, the camera cannot play it. Some formats are not seen by the camera, others are but are not playable. If I get any more info I'll post it here. Cheers

Thanks - it's good to hear you are on the case. If you do hear back from Sanyo I'd certainly love to know. It seem odd that they would create such a powerful system and not provide a way for it to be used to its full potential.
