Hi guys, I'm still waiting for my Xacti C6 to arrive and I'm already excited about it! ;D I've been a user of DV videocams for some years but am looking forward to a tape free existence - even though I realise the quality may be a bit less. A couple of questions, if I may: (1) If I just want to join up my MP4 clips and put them onto DVD, is there a simple way of doing it or do I have to convert to AVI first using, e.g. Mp4Cam2AVI (which I have on my PC). (2) If I just want to join up my MP4 clips and put them onto YouTube as a merged MP4 file, what's the best way? Thanks in advance!

I'd be interested in this too. In fact any software that can cut AND paste mp4 files.

It's Ok - I've found the answer to my own question!!
You can join MP4 clips using Yamb. If that's as far as you want to go that's all you need to do.
If you want to put on DVD:
Join and convert MP4 clips to AVI using Mp4Cam2AVI
Once you have the AVI file you can of course encode to DVD format, author and burn using the software of your choice. (I personally use TMPEGenc and TMPEGenc DVD Author but you can use pretty well any movie software).

haha you know what's hilarious is that I found that software tonight as well. It's a bit crude but I suppose if you just want to reduce the size of a clip to fit an email, it works. I did notice that the timing is a bit off when cutting. ie if you use the values from quicktime, the start and end frames don't match what you expected. It would have been nice if Sanyo had included some basic software to split files.

I thought some basic editing tools were including contained within the cameras? Ie we can bolt together various mp4 files to create one large edited sequence?
Ive never used that feature as its seems quite cumbersome but Im sure its on the camera.
Also I see you've used the word 'convert' using Mp4Cam2AVI application!!! Just to clear up that all the application does is change the video container which contains the mp4 video. A lot of video applications and encoders do not like or accept the mp4 contain that the Xacti cameras put on the video files and so this Mp4Cam2AVi application just renames some important information in the file header and changes the file extension to AVi. The whole process is quick and totally lossless as the video part of the file is not touched at all! Just thought i'd reiterate that one again! Great application - dont know what Id do without it now!

If its really "this Mp4Cam2AVi application just renames some important information in the file header and changes the file extension to AVi", how come the resulting .avi file has larger filesize than the original .mp4? Please clarify this. Thank you very much.

You are correct in stating that the file size does change - but this increase is only neglible.
I suppose only the creator of that application knows EXACTLY what else it does to the file but they claim that it doesnt re-encode any video but only affects other file attributes.
