I am looking to buy some more SD cards for my Sanyo C40. Would I be correct in saying that if I stick to the regular low speed ones, I should be ok as it seems to me that it's mainly the highspeed ones that are causing all the incompatibilities.
I will probably stick with 1GB so I don't put all my eggs in one basket so to speak as I would with a 2GB.
The two 1GB cards I already have are listed as working ok although I have only tested my Adata personally and not my Ritek 66.

The only size isssue is currently with SD cards 4GB which effects all Xacti models. Luckily the HD1 can cope with all sizes 4GB and below. I think the C4 can only use 1GB maximum but Im sure other people might correct me on this.
The other consideration is the speed of the card. If you are only using your C4 for photos then ANY speed SD card will do but if you intend to record full size video files you will most definately benefit from buying the 'high speed' SD cards.
Also I agree with you that you could be putting too many eggs in one basket using just a single memory card and as they are ridiculously cheap now - buying a few 1GB is quite a good idea.

Thanks for the reply but my camera is the C40 not the older similar C4 and as far as I know it is compatible with 2GB cards since it mentions their use on Sanyo's site for this model and I am sure I saw it also in the manual somewhere. Still the proof of the pudding so to speak is to try one I guess. You are correct in that you can edit on the camera, but it's cumbersome and you need to be careful you don't alter the original accidentally. It's much easier to do on a PC. As far as speed is concerned, it doesn't mention highspeed cards being necessary in the manual unless you are meaning the benefit would come from offloading them via a card reader to the PC? By the way, for a quick and dirty conversion to other formats I highly recomend Super Convertor: www.erightsoft.net/S5l01.html

The URL above should be directly on the page for Super. The download links are at the bottom of the page but I have noticed that sometimes their website doesn't always work correctly and you don't get the right page. If you still can't find the download links, try this www.erightsoft.net/home.html and select the freeware button at the top, where you will find Super. It is freeware and another great feature is that you can convert to .3gp for mobile phones. This feature along makes it priceless for me as I can put small videos from my cameras onto my phones of my son to show relatives and friends!

The only size isssue is currently with SD cards 4GB which effects all Xacti models.....quote] Luckily for us C6 users, Sanyo released last week a firmware upgrade to enable use of 4gb high speed SD cards. This new firmware upgrade also improves C6 sound capture, a perenial problem of C6 and all Xacti's. My C6 previous firmware version is 1.0.0. After I installed the firmware upgrade last week, it is now version 1.1.0. I recommend ALL XACTI-C6 USERS to install this new firmware upgrade. Download the new firmware here: www.sanyo-dsc.com/english/support/index.htmlThanks to all.

Hi, i have had trouble with my C40 video recording (blocky images popping up and crashing). I'm assuming this is down to the SD card (a high speed one from play.com). Does anyone know of any problems with SD cards and which ones are best to use? Thanks for any advice.
