Mmmmmmmmmmm - I glad I waited now! Rather than opt for the C5 or C6 this is exactly the specification I was waiting for! This is a HIGH DEFINITION model - so all those people with HD tv's will get amazing quality pictures! They will still be stunning on a standard tv aswell (standard pal pictures are called SD - standard definition) Add to that a TEN TIMES optical zoom and this is a must for next year! I wonder what the starting prices will be? If you don't have a HD tv (yet) im sure there will be a setting on there which is higher than the current 640 x 480 - probably 720 x 564 (?) which will be a standard MPEG2/DVD standard format! If you haven't got HD tv yet it's pointless filling the card up with larger files if you are never going to view them that way. Just when I thought my 2gb card was going to be enough - I might have to opt for a 4gb now!!!!! Lee www.xacti.co.uk

More pictures plus a sample video taken with a pre-production model (let's hope that the production version has better autofocus!) can be found on the Akihabara News site by clicking the link below: Akihabara News DMX-HD1 Preview

Hi Alan - how you getting on with your HD1 ? I'm thinking of getting one to replace my old JVC minidv . The reviews I've read pan it pretty much for HD, but if its SD is as good as typical miniDV thats all I want ...
