Hi I just purchased a C4, I loaded the MP4 to avi and I get errors in Pinnacle studio, says studio does not support this mpeg4 file format, even though I have supposedly converted it to avi??? I have tried all the recommendations on the mp4toavi website but Pinnacle will not recognise any of the file formats.....help

I have just tried using the converted MP4 to AVI files create with MP4TOAVI application and Pinnacle doesn't like them! Anyone got any ideas on how to help? Lee www.xacti.co.uk |

Thanks for trying Lee, thought it was just me, I've also tried ImToo and vsoDivxToDVD to no avail. I can play the converted file on a player (usually VLC) but Pinnacle doesn't recognise them as AVI's  |

Hi rmj,
The MP4 file is only put in an avi container and if you do it right the AAC sound is converted to PCM or MP3.
This means it is still an mpeg4 file you can read it with the dvix or xivd;) codec.
Pinnacle does not read mpeg4.......
BTW.. Ulead VS9 works but is an slow program. MPEG2 encoding is fast! Magix video studio 2005 is tested by me now, first impression is good!

Hi wrak, cheers for the info, it may appear that the Pinnacle Studio might work with mp4. I'm having some trouble with my main pc so I'm doing a re-install. So while I'm doing that I loaded Pinnacle Studio to my laptop but haven't activated it, just so I can play with the s/w and get used to it (you can't burn anything but you can use it). I downloaded the latest update (from 9.3 to 9.4..) on my laptop and tried it again with an xacti mp4 file and it came up with a window to purchase premium content (but I'm not sure wether to do it incase I then can't activate Pinnacle properly on the desktop later), fingers crossed.....
