As with ANY camera try and not point the lens towards the sun. Always shoot away from the sun. I have found I had some of the best quality videos in bright sunshine! Maybe there is some dirt on your lens and needs cleaning? Lee www.xacti.co.uk

I've just noticed that Cokin now have a filter arrangement that uses the tripod mount of the camera. Due to the irregular shape of the xacti it might not work, however, if it does you will have access to Cokins full range of filters(a series) this includes a cicular polariser for autofocus camera. Could be pretty neat if it can be adjusted to suit. the set incl a couple of filters is £30 from jessops
Also Cokin have somehting called the magnefix. It might and I say might just work on the xacti, there web site doesnt show the c1/c4/c5 as compatiable although it does show some of the other sanyo cameras as compatiable. What it is is a piece of circular magentic strip fits to the metal surrounding the lense and then the lense bonds to the magnetic strip. Put it on and off as you feel with 2x magenfication ie xacti now has 12x(c5 10x) optical zoom, pretty neat if it works.
They are £50'ish to buy and they do .5 as well for wide angle. Personally I find the wide angle fine but 12 optical plus a bit of digital zoom will give you a nice extended clear range.
I'll order one and try it.
