I use my Xacti C4 together with an iBook (G3, 600 MHz, 640 MB RAM, latest software). When I play the videos (TV-SHQ) with QuickTime player, a lot of frames are being skipped, like as the computer was too slow. According to the manual, however, a 400 MHz CPU should already be sufficient. On the other hand, it does not say sufficient for what. Perhaps TV-SHQ is too much for my computer? Has anyone else similar experiences?

I have the same problem on my 6500 G3/500 ATI radeon 32Mo. I guess the cause is a lack of power of the computer-video card combination. MP4 decoding requires a lot of ressource. Try this : - disable virtual memory. - allocate more memory to Quicktime (10 MB). - don't open any other app. It should help but, if it doesn't, I'm afraid you will have to change your Mac.

Thank you very much for your answer. Unfortunately I do not know how to change these parameters with Mac OS X. I tried Activity Monitor and NetInfo Manager, but did not manage it.

Oops! Sorry. All I said was for Mac OS 9 (I'm still under OS 9). I don't know anything about OS X, except that it needs more power than OS 9.OSX + MP4 : my idea is that you need a more powerfull Mac.

You could try an alternative player. I find that VLC does a much _much_ better job of playing back almost every file. It has countless advantages over Quicktime Player.
