Hello, The Sanyo Xacti can be used as a web cam.
I have not used mine as one so I do not know if you will need any software, I doubt it.
I have used it hooked up to show live on a television screen.
Good Luck, John

I don't know! I can't even think of a way of getting it to work (easily) either! Lee www.xacti.co.uk

I got my c4 from japan last year so all my software and manuals were in Japanese!! I did try to get Sanyo UK to replace them with english versions but they quite rudely said no, go try the software manufacturer. Anyway back to the topic, one of the things I asked them when I was contacting their support was weather the xacti can be used as a webcam and their reply was no it was not possible. If someone has managed to find a way to use it as such I would be really interested in that.

hi alan still trying it (24hrs) out but very impressed so far - however i'm not sure that low light performance is much better. i have a 1mg card in this and you need the space - not video level but sooooo handy! ;D will report on progress with various aspects in due course.

Dave, Very cool. I just got mine from ebay two days ago. wow it is great. I showed it to a friend who is a graphic artist who does tv adverts. She says that a device like this would save editing costs. She loves the design and how easy it is to use. I have been using it just in fool around stage. I like the different light conditions. The voice prompts are very cute. The size is perfect. I have been trying settings in indoors and out doors. much to say that the picts and video are better on the computer then on the tiny screen. But I think the screen is a good size. I bought the ATP 1Gig cards from ecost.com. The cards are fast and the play back on my computer is fine. I am even lowing the video quality settings as for what I am using it for the highest quality setting is too much. Alan
