Um, well first thing is to transfer the Mp4 files to your pc as they are quite big files and will take some time playing directly from the camera via USB1.1/2. It is not recommended to play the files in Windows Media Player as the video can be quite jerky and stuttery (?) It is therefore recommended for optimum playback to play in Apple's Quicktime player. Search google for quicktime and you should have no problem. Hope this helps. Lee www.xacti.co.uk

Hmmmmm, Some obvious things but have you taken the small plastic part out which allows the battery to become connected? Have you fully charged the battery? Have you got the battery in the correct way? Are you pressing the HD button rather than the power button? As the power button has been moved! I initially kept pressing the HD button to switch it on but realised that it had been moved! Lee www.xacti.co.uk

People with a HD1 or any HD capable camera can now record HD video. BUT What can we actually do with it at the moment? I can play the files successfully on my pc but can't really do anything else with them! I would love to burn them to DVD and play them on my 32" widescreen tv but cannot. First of all you need : - a video editing application that will handle widescreen HD files, a computer fast enough to handle editing these files, a dvd burner capable of burning the new HD-DVD standard commonly known as Blu-ray or H.264, A new DVD player that will play back HD DVD disks, and lastly a television that is High Definition! So all in all it's going to be a high cost situation upgrading all this kit to get some quality H D pictures on your television! THEREFOREI was wondering if there was any way of burning these HD files to standard DVD disks which will play on my standard (non HD) DVD player? I was wondering what the maximum settings for MPEG2 video are? Can we still put 1280 x 720i files on a dvd all edited and re-encoded as MPEG2 or do we have to live within the 768 x 576 limits? I have no problem downscaling my edited video from 60fps to 25fps but wondered if DVD can get anywhere near the resolution of the Xacti HD1 files? SO many question so little answers?! I have always wondered about this aswell! I have taken all my mp4 files from the Xacti edited them into a 4 minute package and then re-encoded back to mp4. Plonked them back on the camera so I could easily output to the tv but the camera wouldn't recognise my edited mp4 files. Could anyone shed any light on the exact mp4 requirements for this camera to recognise the files? PS - I would've thought that any JPEG image would've appeared without any conversion required! I was so knackered last night I went straight to bed without having a play with it! Got up bright and earlier this morning to have charge it up. Whilst it's charging in the meantime here are some more details:- The overall size is a big chunkier and will just about still fit in your pocket! That was one of the main selling points of the previous models was the size! But here you've got specification vs size and I think they got the payoff just right! The battery size has increased in dimension and is bigger with a rating of 1200mAh compared to the old 720mAh. Hopefully this will result in slightly longer operation time? Probably not if the camera is doing more work as it's handling larger files and doing much more? Here is a list of everything included in the box:- Handstrap and camera case, 2 x Sanyo Software pack (more details on this later), Li-ion battery pack, Docking station, Dedicated S-AV interface cable, Dedicated USB interface cable, Dedicated Component cable, AC Adaptor and power cord, Remote control unit, Lithium battery for remote control, Lens cap and strap, Cable adaptor, Microphone connection cable, Core for external microphone, Safety Manual 2 x quick guides, 1 x HD1 camera! Seems like they have the various video output formats covered! On previous models there was a slot on the power point to place a battery and charge it whilst you are charging another one in the camera - this option has been removed from this model and they can only be charged in the camera itself! According to the software disks supplied the following software is available:- Motion Director SE1.1 Quicktime 7 USB Driver Instruction Manual, Ulead PhotoExplorer 8.5 SE Basic Ulead DVD Movie Factory 4.0 SE It seems that the two Ulead products are MPEG4 and High Definition compatible so are being installed as I type! Will post more later when i've fully charged and had a play about! Lee www.xacti.co.uk

That is quite a good price for getting the HD1 from the UK - where did you see it for that price and what was included?ie memory card, postage, insurance etc? The gamble with buying from abroad is import tax but for all the years of buying foriegn goods I have never had to pay so far! Maybe this will be my turn to pay! Lee www.xacti.co.uk
